On giving "THE TALK"

Today was a parenting milestone for me. Kai asked what sex was and of course I looked at her with the deer caught in the headlights look and asked her where she heard that word. Her response was "Daddy says you have sex all the time in front of me". NOT TRUE. So tonight at dinner (while Mark is out of town) I had to have the s-e-x talk with my curious 7 year old. I told her that when a man and a woman love each other and they are married then they get to have sex. I explained that sex is just like when she sees mommy and daddy kissing but they do the kissing and cuddling naked in their bedroom with the door shut and locked. Again I stressed that you don't get to have sex until you are MARRIED and in love. She seemed satisfied with that answer and I am pretty proud of myself for not freaking out!!
