September 11th

I thought that I could get through this day without crying but that didn't happen. So where were you 10 years ago today when the world stood still while America was being attacked. I was babysitting my nephew Kaden who was only 4 months at the time. I had placed him in his car seat with a bottle so that he could watch cartoons while I grabbed a quick 5 minute shower. Just as I was getting into the shower I heard a sharp cry coming from my room so I jumped out of the shower and wrapped myself in a towel and ran to see what was wrong with Kaden. He was crying because his cartoons had been turned off and what was on the tv then made me cry. I was watching the second plane go into the twin towers. I quickly got dressed and loaded Kaden into the car and headed to my grandmama's house. I spent the day at grandma's with my mom, sister, Kaden, grandma, and grandpa just watching the news. I remember my mom getting called by someone and asking her if she wanted to go to New York to help out with those that were injured. This seemed odd to me because we lived in Lubbock but then it made sense when I remembered that she was a wound specialist and there are not many of those around. That night I went out to Floydada to see Mark because he didn't want to be alone that night and we spent most of the night talking and watching the events on tv. That is a day that my generation will never forget. Just like my mom's and grandparent's generation remember when man walked on the moon, JFK was shot, and Challenger exploded, our generation will always know exactly what we were doing on September 11, 2001. My hope and prayer is that my children never will have to live through a tragedy like that.
