Since we have had children we have a tradition of going and picking out a pumpkin to be carved a week before Halloween so that it doesn't ruin. This past Saturday we headed out to a local pumpkin patch to gather our pumpkins. Each of us got a small pumpkin except for Kai who had to have a bigger and better pumpkin than the rest of us. Normally, we will carve our pumpkins on a Monday evening for our version of a family home evening. But this year we have decided to skip the messiness of carving a take on the mess of painting our pumpkins. At first the kids were not to keen on this idea but have slowly come around to accepting it! So we will paint our gourds this week and proudly display them on the porch. (pics to come soon!)
