Yeah right! The notion that any education is free makes me laugh. One would think that sending your child to a public school would only have the costs of supplies and lunches. One would think, right? WRONG! It seems every time I turn around I am having to give the school more money. Kai needs uniforms, pictures, school shirts, yearbooks, field trip
souvenirs, me to purchase things for the school auction, party favors, teacher appreciation. What the heck is my tax money going to? A crappy athletic program which my child is not in. I might as well have sent her to a private school.

I agree, except our athletic program isn't that crappy... :) We went to state this year! Also, one thing about they private school, here anyway, is that if you choose not to do fundraising, you don't have to, but instead you have to pay something like 300.00 at the beginning of the year, per child, to make up for it. And that is on top of tuition. I think we have a lose/lose situation here. It is 50 times worse in Houston, or atleast the schools the boys went to. They were CONSTANTLY bringing home a fundraiser. Selling chocolate bunnies for easter, wrapping paper christmas roses and balloons on valentines, popcorn, cookie dough, it was never-ending.
well, wait, maybe we didn't go to state, but I think we made the playoffs! ;)
